The city of Montreal has had a long romance with Europe since the 16th century. The city sits on the Île de Montreal and is the second most-populous city in Canada. Following World War II, the city has transformed itself into a global metropolis, thanks to its rapid economic growth. Day 1 in Montreal

Start your day by visiting two of the most famous attractions in Montreal – the Montreal Botanical Garden and Montreal Biodome. Located at the Olympic Park, the Montreal Biodome gives the visitors a chance to walk through replicas of four ecosystems that are found in the Americas. The four exhibits found here are Tropical Forest from South America, Laurentian Forest from North America, Saint Lawrence Marine Eco-system form the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and Sub-Polar Region from the Arctic and Antarctic. Later, head to the Montreal Botanical Garden that comprises of 75 hectares of thematic gardens. In the afternoon, you can take a leisurely walk through the Old Montreal. Post sunset, take a cab to Buona Notte to enjoy a nice meal.

Day 2 in Montreal

Head to the downtown today. The downtown Montreal has many interesting sites that will keep you occupied for the better part of the day. Visit places like Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Mary - Queen of the World Cathedral, Musée Grévin Montreal, and Darling Foundry. In the evening, visit the Dorchester Square and the Place du Canada. If you are a beer fan, you can visit one of the microbreweries in downtown Montreal.

Day 3 in Montreal

Choose from many places like Château Frontenac Hotel (a luxurious castle hotel), Old Quebec (a historic neighbourhood), Citadelle of Quebec (a fortress), Plains of Abraham (a colonial battle site), and Musée de la civilisation (a musuem) while on your day trip to this beautiful city. Before heading back to Montreal, visit the Petit Champlain for its cobblestoned streets and many bistros and boutiques.

Day 5 in Montreal

On your last day of you 5-day Montreal trip, head to the Canada’s capital – Ottawa. Sitting on the Ottawa River and near the U.S Border, Ottawa is home to Parliament Hill that has may beautiful Victorian style buildings and attractions such as the National Gallery of Canada, Peace Tower, Canadian Museum of History, National Gallery of Canada, and Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica are located a short walk from the centre. After all the walking and exploring, you can head to the Rideau Canal for a leisurely afternoon. This park lined canal is filled with boats during summer and ice-skaters during winter.
