Budget:

• Pousada Casuarinas: Incredibly cheap, but incredibly charming, this no-frills functional hotel is popular thanks to its great location. Cats, dogs and tortoises roam. The place also has a small pool.
• Olindapart: Friendly painter couple who rent out their rooms. Some of the renters are long term scientists.

Mid-range:

• Hotel ibis Recife Boa Viagem: This is one of the most popular hotels to stay at the city. It is located quite close to the Beach.
• Ibis Recife Aeroporto: A small and functional hotel close to the airport. Rooms are cozy and comfortable.
• BEST WESTERN Manibu Recife: The main selling point of the hotel seems to be the highly attentive staff. There’s also a rooftop pool and bar.

Luxury:

• Grand Mercure Recife Atlante Plaza: Good brazilian breakfast. Close to the Boa Viagem Beach.
• Mercure Recife Mar Hotel Conventions: Great location. Big rooms. Attentive staff. Nice pool.
• Courtyard Recife Boa Viagem: Beautiful roof top pool and gym. The staff really know what’s going on in the city.

PLACES TO EAT

• Camarada Camarao: No English menu or English speaking staff, but still unmissable for perfect Brazilian seafood.
• Chica Pitanga: Expensive but excellent buffet. Try the seafood.
• Outback Steakhouse: Great place for a hangout. Excellent beer.
• Entre Amigos-o Bode: A wide range of dishes made using local ingredients. Bar is good. Excellent place to relax.
• Nez Bistro: French-Italian restaurant in a 17th century townhouse. Cozy and romantic.
