The oldest surviving Western ecclesiastical building in Hong Kong, the St.John’s cathedral is a sight to behold. Once used as a club for the Japanese during Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, this church has since been restored and rebuilt. The church has played an important role in the history of Hong Kong. This was the site where Reverend Alaric P. Rose took the morning service as the city was being relentlessly shelled by the Japanese. Today, the church stands as a stark contrast to the high rises of the city and is a pleasant sight to the eye even if you choose not to go in.
